Optical Illusion

Let me preface this by saying, I’ve worn glasses since High School and really have never had that much desire to get contacts or Lasik. I believe glasses are the ultimate accessory. They have the ability to walk between the worlds of jewelry and make up and have the potential to transform with minimal to no maintenance.

So, I’m ALWAYS on the look out for sweet frames and sweet deals. And I think I found both and more in this little place in Austin. It’s called Gene Rogers Optical, and they have vintage lenses falling off the walls. They are this tiny family owned and operated store, and a lot of their vintage glasses are actually left over stock from their store from earlier decades. Their selection is incredible and the owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I ended up getting two pairs for my birthday. And then a few days later I came back with two frames I had bought at a yard sale, and had them put lenses in them for me. They do that even! So legit. Almost worth moving to Austin for… Almost.

I just need to find one more excuse…

Are you breathing right?

Just bought these nikes on sale. I love new running shoes. There’s something about them that get you all pumped up to go run… or at least to put an outfit together and jump off walls or something like that. Equally productive activities, I’m sure of it.

A simpler time, when the only thing we worried about was total nuclear annihilation.

Jeffery Campbell Snick Wedges

I’ve pretty much been only wearing these for the past few days. They’re half clog and half… uh… some.. other. kind. of clog…

wasteful things

I stopped in some thrift store and found the most amazing & ugly thing ever. Polyester jumpsuit with gold studs. For $12. So. Awesome. I thought I was going crazy, but txted Felicia and she backed me up, so I got the retarded thing. Now I need to get my stilettos out and start watching some Die-NASTY.

Ugh, crappy dressing room pics. Sorry.

Look at how happy I am checking myself out. GAG

the breaking in of shoes

*Wedges: Aldo

Peter and I spent a little bit of time today finding the pixie market shop in chinatown. It was the perfect weather for walking around, only too cold if you stop moving. I bought these shoes which are amazingly comfortable and decided to break them in immediately. I need instant gratification. And after I rummaged through every single item at the pixie market shop, we walked around and discovered Self Edge (where peter must buy his jeans) and this awesome fabric shop. Unfortunately, we went to grap a bite and when we got back it was closed. but i plan on returning to hunt for some awsome antique buttons to add to my ever growing collection.

I a m a r o b o t . zzz ee zz ee bbb beep beeep beeeee

loading....... I got these new shoes of mine in the mail today after
waiting an excructiating three days! I think they're sweet like those
cash for gold commercials. The hoochie in me has always been on
the lookout for a casual heeled shoe. I'm still not sure if that exists but!!
!... this athletic inspired heel is completely amazing.

They remind me of this movie, Robo Jox, that we watched several times
a week during the mid nineties. The plot is quite ingenious really. In a
post World War III world, war is outlawed! Instead of battling out
disagreements with armies, they do so with giant battling robots
controlled by elite "robo jox." AWESOME!!! It's even cooler than it
sounds. check it outttt yooooooooo! crazy wicked fresh.

Tara got these amazing bootie shoes by We Who See the other day. The suede is super thick and they are just so soft and comfortable. Since she is so sweet she let me wear them to work right after she brought them home. I then told her I would buy them off her or she could give them to me since I am so infatuated with them. Apparently her generosity does not extend that far though.

justifications

I just bought these Adrienne boots by Frye because:
   1. I've wanted them forever and they keep popping up everywhere, torturing me.
   2. They just went on sale (almost 1/2 off!)
   3. When I called the store they only had 2 pairs left in my size and this brown color...  in California.
   4. They will ship them to me for free.
   5. Gah! I don't need any more reasons. I cannot wait until I put my grubby little hands all over them. I need to go take a walk now and calm down.

"'maybe you should open a school in african like oprah.' 'everybody CALM DOWN!'"

So with summer time, come's the crazy print princess in me. I never really like prints, except! during the summer. I can get a little out of control. Right now, i'm liking exotic animal prints, specifically of the cheetah/lepoard genre. Check up on my new favorite dress.

I got it at forever 21 for like 25 cents or some shit. I wore it to work the other day with black tights, black oxford heels, and with a white button up under it. But sometimes i like to pair it with more primal hair and a nice leg of meat. It's so raw it's right.

Things you can wear on your feet perhaps

The great thing about Tara working at a large second-hand shop, is going in with the pretense of seeing her, and then having a great excuse to shop. "Ah well, I'm already here- might as well."
Second greatest thing: being around then for super deals, like these little oxford booties in gray patent and soft suede with bright blue insides.
Bad thing: getting carried away and buying an acid-wash denim jumper that makes everyone either cringe or giggle. Actually, I love the jumper probably just as much as the shoes. Once this weather cooperates, perhaps I'll be able to actually wear it out, instead of just admiring it in the safety of my bedroom.

who was that bitch that answered your phone 5 months ago?!

Recently i attended a formal dance/dinner thing. (yes: i am in seventh grade, no: i did not spike the punch) i wanted something simple and sleek. i originally bought a different dress, only to exchange it a month later for this one, that looks almost exactly like it except for the neck line and the criss-cross in the back.

i love it. it's from bebe and it's one of those things that makes you feel glamorous as soon as you put it on. i wear it sometimes to watch law and order and it adds a little happiness to the pedophiles and rapists. Afterall, if you can't get dressed up for good tv, than what have we to live for? (besides the inevitable alien invasion)

Summer Conflictions

Summer comes and makes me want to buy summer things, like linen, or florals, or bright summer colors, or gauzy light garments. Which would be fine, if it didn't go against every other atom in my being. I use to end up with a warm weather wardrobe that I would never wear, UNTIL I finally came to the realization that I am just happier wearing mostly black all year round. Yes, perhaps slightly more heat absorbing than the other summer-residing people around me, but whatever. Anyway, accessories are so non-committal and still let me indulge in the fun. So far this year's warm weather has manifested itself in these two purses:

I've been living out of the yellow tote nonstop recently and love it. Sometimes when it's super hot though, it sticks to my arm and when I peel it away I am reminded of Kraft singles. That's ok though. I can just hold it far away from my body and still admire that blinding yellow.

ya, suck it, I do read the paper

If there is one particular trait that sets my style apart from my sisters' style, it has to be the hoochie in me. The hoochie in me loves short shorts, push up bras and stiletto heels, just not all at once.

I love them. They are Guess by Marciano and I am planning on wearing them tonight, tomorrow, and maybe forever.
P.S. more on the hoochie in me to come.

10,000 hits like this to keep me rich, ok bitch

So I've been wanting to buy some simpler tops. Trying to pull the whole casual/nottryingtoohard/michaelstarsads thing. So I bought this simple black V neck t shirt from some random store called Tilly's that I only went into because I was with a guy who was looking for Metal Militia shirts (I know right).

I have bought plenty of plain t shirts in the past, but they are always too thin, too thick, get stretched too easily, too tight, too big, too short (i.e. middle school midriff), too low cut, and the only really good ones are too expensive ($36 Guess). I bought this one without even trying it on because it was only $8 and now I'm hooked. It is amazing. I just bought 3 more online. I am a believer and you should be too.

Summer Shoes Make Me Warm Inside

I am now the proud owner of the above shoes. However, imagine the first pair in more of a chocolate espresso sort of color. Anyway, I am extremely pleased as I had my eye on these, these and then these, and so on, so forth. However, the above shoes, which are Dr. Scholl's and Nine West, were much much easier on my wallet. So, I had to get the both of them, as they are actually SAVING me money. Yes. Yes.
